Thursday - "Needs"

Mark 2:4-5 "Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, 'Son, your sins are forgiven.' "

As his four friends lowered him down to Jesus, the paralyzed man on the mat must have been doing a lot of thinking... What will Jesus say? Will He be upset that we knocked pieces of the ceiling in on Him? Will the crowd get angry?

But perhaps the biggest question on his mind was "Can He really heal me?"

At last, the man finishes his descent and prepares himself for what will surely be something like "Go! Get up and walk!" or "Your faith has healed you...run!" I love what Christ says... "Your sins are forgiven." Can you imagine the look on the faces of those in the room? Looking at each other wondering why He would say such a thing when all the man must have wanted was to walk again. Was Jesus just teasing this guy? Why say such a disconnected statement? What they didn't realize was that this paralyzed man got what he needed first.

Jesus knew that the forgiveness of his sin what what this man needed. Walking was secondary.

Have you ever wanted something from Jesus and got what you needed instead?

Ever wanted peace but got more trials...only to grow more through the trials than you ever thought possible?

Ever wanted financial freedom only to find yourself struggling...yet clinging to a now stronger faith because of God's provision?

Ever pray for something and God told you to wait?

God knows what we truly need even if we don't. If you are feeling paralyzed this morning....don't over-think it. When you go to Him in prayer ...allow Him to give you what you need....peace, wisdom, grace, silence, faith, understanding, time, choice, love, submission, discernment...

It is then that true healing can begin and you can start to walk again.

See you tomorrow...have a blessed day!

This is such a great and timely message Pastor Brian! This really helped open my eys and my heart this morning - and gave me insight into what I really need to pray for! Thanks for this...
