Wednesday - "The Illusion"

Romans 8:18: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Take a look at the optical illusion to the left...what do you see? Are the lines straight? Diagonal? Wavy? Sometimes things are not exactly as they appear at first. No matter how many times we hear the truth...our brains just can't seem to get a hold of the reality. What if I told you that each of the gray lines in the drawing were perfectly parallel with each other..would you believe me?

It's true.

Right now you may be suffering. I know...you've hidden it pretty well. Your spouse is causing you strife. Your job is on the brink of being eliminated. Your checkbook says you have nothing to pay those last few bills with this month... You are struggling. Maybe it's relational, financial, emotional, or spiritual...but you are being challenged and stretched to the limits of your faith.

I've got good news. Things are not as they appear.

This feeling you have will NOT last forever.

Today's verse says that the struggles that you are currently facing are temporary. Not only are they temporary...but as challenging as they are...they pale in comparison to the greatness of what is coming your way in eternity. In Heaven, you will become complete...no more worries..no more fears... no doubts... In the meantime, pray this morning that God would give you perspective...the ability to see what we face here as fleeting and clarity to remember what is to come...and that's no illusion.
