Friday - "Getting Fouled"

Getting Fouled
by Valerie Baker

Life throws curve balls. Sometimes life doesn't just throw them but it throws them AT you. You lose your job, lose someone close to you, have health problems, end a relationship, etc. It can take a while to get out of the way of these curve balls. Sometimes it seems as if it's never-ending, that there is no way to get out of the line of fire. But there is a way. His name is Jesus.

Jesus tells us to cast our cares on him (Psalm 55:22) and to put our trust in him (Proverbs 3:5) and have faith (. Sometimes it's hard to hand over to Him all of your complaints and failures and fouls. Sometimes it's difficult to give Him control of your life. A friend of mine gave me a good suggestion that I use sometimes when I have difficulty handing my concerns over to God. She said to cup your hands like you were holding water in them, put them close to your heart and pass your concerns up and over to God. It's an outward analogy to what we need to do inwardly to have faith.

It's not always easy but over time, I learned to pass over the control to God without having to give an outward interpretation of what was happening inside me. If you are struggling with being fouled in life because it keeps throwing curve balls at you, try to give it all over to God and putting your faith in him. Try the outward motion of passing your problems over to Him to care for. With faith and prayer, you will see that the curve balls will stop and God's blessing will follow.

Thanks Valerie for the encouragement. It has been a tough week for my wife and me (because of her health); it helps to be reminded that He is always there to help and support us.
