Last weekend, I talked about a friend of mine who drove a very unique car. His seats could be removed so that he could hose out the inside...need I say more? We called it the "roach coach" and rode in it every day to school because it beat taking the bus or walking. One afternoon, we were riding home and the "Check Engine" light came on. I asked him if he was going to fix it and he told me that it would be repaired by morning. The next morning came and he had covered the light with a sticker...he said it wouldn't bother him if he couldn't see it. His car was trying to get his attention...and he concluded that ignoring it would be best...
Many of us are the same way. We ask God to send the Holy Spirit our way, and when He does...we don't know what to do with the nudge when we receive it. We plead for guidance...and then don't follow it. The light comes on...and we cover it up.
If you experienced this weekend, I want to reiterate one of the points.... If you want to live a life filled with the Holy Spirit, you'll have to start acting on what God is nudging you to do. Make that phone call...send that email...give that hug... whatever you are feeling led to do to make things right. Then, if you ever get fouled by life, you will be living as one who is controlled by God...
How do you know the nudge is from God? Here's a couple of things I do to check: 1) Does the nudge contradict scripture? God would never give you something to do that is contrary to His word 2) Have I checked with my closest Christian friends and ask them what they think? Sometimes I believe that God can use others Christians to confirm His leading. 3) Have I prayed this through and am at total peace about it?
What's nudging you this morning? Is it from the God? If so...I challenge you to act on it TODAY...don't put it off... Life may foul you today...but you'll be ready...
Blessings,
Pastor Brian
