1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
FAITH - "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." James 1:2-3
Trials and struggles test our faith. The world tests the faith in our marriage. Why is faith important? Because when we demonstrate our faith...perseverance results and God is glorified.
HOPE - Hope is what gets us through the challenges...the knowledge that whatever our marriage might be facing is for our good. No matter how dark it may seem right now in your relationship...God is there. No matter what the balance of your checking account says...God is there. No matter how many times you have let each other down in the past...God is there. God is there...and God is hope. He wants your marriage to thrive much more than you ever could...and He will give you the strength, wisdom, and sense of peace to make it happen.
LOVE - Jesus loves us exactly as we are. He loves you and your spouse equally and without reservation. This morning, think back to two times in your life: the first time you fell in love with Jesus and the first time you fell in love with your spouse. What were you feeling in both of those instances? Has that feeling diminished? If yes, why? Pray this morning for a new fire...a new drive to get passionate again about Christ...and your marriage.
Faith, hope, love... this morning, ask God to show you which of these needs your attention...communicate with your spouse about it...and work on a plan to make it happen.
Blessings,
Pastor Brian
