Luke 2:8-9 (TV) Nearby, in the fields outside of Bethlehem, a group of shepherds were guarding their flocks from predators in the darkness of night. Suddenly, a messenger of the Lord stood in front of them, and the darkness was replaced by a glorious light-the shining light of God's glory.
Last weekend, as we read this verse, something jumped out at me like never before. Do you notice about 2/3 of the way through this passage...the phrase "...and the darkness was replaced by a glorious light- the shining light of God's glory." This passage was talking about the darkness of night and a brilliant glow...but do you think we could look at this passage figuratively?
I was thinking about it...darkness replaced with light. Worry replaced with confidence. Fear replaced with power. How many times in my life do I live in the darkness and forget all about the blinding light of God's all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere-at-one-time presence?
How about you today?
Ever feel afraid in the dark?
No matter what you are struggling with today...God wants to brighten your day. Not as a candle would be a lonely light in a pitch black room...but as a flooding and embracing light that exposes all of your fears...but comforts, reassures, and protects.
Don't live today in the dark...rejoice in the glorious light of His presence.
See you tomorrow,
Pastor Brian
